Journalists return home from North Korea to the "safety" of the US.

I am very happy for the families of Laura Ling and Euna Lee and for the women themselves as they are back home "safe" in the U.S. of A. I put the word "safe" in quotes because this incident and many others that have or are taking place need to be analyzed to determine just how "safe" America really is.

Having been in the international submarine community for several years I learned a very valuable lesson. The Russians do not send their subs on "routine training missions" in U.S. waters. They may be training missions, but they are for the express purpose of training to spy on the American's! In today's headlines we read how several Russian subs were doing just that.

North Korea arrested the two journalists, tried them as trespassers, and found them guilty with the maximum punishment available. They (North Korea) have also been conducting missile launch tests, of weapons that are capable of reaching the States, in the face of the Obama administration's consistent flurry of warnings.

Somali pirates attacked, hijacked, and took hostages from an American owned cargo ship several months ago (an event that has not happened for over 200 years). The conflict ended with the Navy Seal snipers taking out the pirates and freeing the hostage even though it appears they were not directed to by President Obama, but by an excellent command decision by the OSC (On Scene Commander).

Iran has continued its Nuclear Proliferation program despite the warnings of the President, has been caught supplying arms to the terrorist groups of the Hamas, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban, without repercussion, and has openly and aggressively thrown out threats of violence toward our country. Their fast boats have simulated attacking our Navy ships even to the point of "warning" shots being fired at them or broadcasted warning messages which they just disregarded. What happened to the days where the military set precedence and had battle cries such as "Remember the Maine!"? What about "Remember the Cole!"? The Cole was attacked and many sailors and soldiers were killed or injured by a small "fast" boat filled with explosives.

What do all of these acts of Russia, North Korea, and Iran have in common? They have all taken place since the election of Barak Hussein Obama! I am obviously not speaking of the USS Cole incident (that took place under Pres. Clinton). American's have been blinded by the media's rantings about the economic debacles, Ponzy schemes, car company bail outs, banks, Fannie and Freddie's, and all of the other smoke and mirrors that distract from the current foreign political state of the US.

We are a weaker nation since the election of the socialist seeking, terrorist succumbing, bully accommodating, Barak Obama. What is worse than that, the Congress has been so busy spending money like a kid in candy store that they have cheered and backed this downward spiral as it has taken place. What have they done about any of it? They have planned to reduce the defense budget by 25% and have suspended the production of the most advanced fighter plane the world has ever seen. Ask any good tactician about what the first line of defense is against attack of our own borders and they will tell you it is the Navy, and more specifically the carriers and fighter planes that can intercept enemy planes, vessels, and missiles before even getting close to this country. Yet the first thing that President Obama did was severely disable that defense net.

Weakness, nigh unto destruction, is awaiting the American people if we allow the socialist regime that is the Obama administration to continue more than four years! We must rally now to support the conservatives that are running for Congress this next election. Slowing down the willing destruction of America by the current administration can take place if the seats in Congress are won back by those who wish to preserve and strengthen the military, democracy, and free enterprise.

Please take note that I did not say "Republicans" when I referred to whom we should elect. In my opinion, anyone that has stood up for the destructive moves made by the President should be hung from the highest yard arm, politically speaking. I lived in Greenville South Carolina for a year and a half and was a big fan of Lindsay Graham, but he needs to go! He needs to be replaced by someone who won't sell out his country in the name of political correctness. Judge Sotomayor is a racist who has no business being a Justice, and his comments were next to treasonous in my book. We need to separate the wheat from the chaff. This coming election term let the true conservatives send a message to all of those who sacrifice the principles of free enterprise, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and a strong military both Democrat and Republican alike. Let them fear the wrath of the voters and patriots who want to strengthen this country and save it from the slope of socialism that it is on!

Ignorance is Bliss! Do You Want to be Ignorant?

"Fat, Dumb, and Happy". "Ignorance is Bliss". "What I Don't Know Won't Hurt Me". These are but a few sayings that have crept into the vocabulary of the modern American. Whether they have come to us via famous prose, poetry, or literature, or whether they have become catch phrases for common events does make any difference. They are all lies!

It has been several months since my last post. It is only because I and my family have been going through a myriad of changes. I have recently changed from the US Navy Reserves to the Virginia Army National Guard (The Stonewall Brigade in Staunton...Hooah!). I have recently changed civilian jobs, and have had a small vacation with my family.

How do the two paragraphs above link together? I am so glad you asked. While the President Obama administration has been scrambling and struggling to find a way to provide "free", and I use that term lightly, healthcare, I have been securing mine. That's right. I've been furthering my commitment to serving and protecting this country from all enemies foreign and domestic, and along with that I get free healthcare (actually I get it a an extremely reduced rate, but were I active duty I would get it free). Not only that but I get a great retirement plan, tax benefits, savings incentives, clothing allowances, free (or close to it) college education, significantly reduced home loans, credit union membership, life insurance, I learn a valuable trade or skill, and I get the ability to travel the world. I learn respect, honor, the meaning of hard work and what it feels like to earn something and make a difference, and on top of all of that......I get paid too!!

Those catch phrases from the beginning of this article are what the government is counting on to dupe you into the "happy-go-lucky" feeling of letting someone else bear the burden of providing you with something you should, and can, earn for yourself. They are counting on you to act like a child whose mommy gives him a lollipop to keep him from acting up instead of a spanking. Does it encourage the child to continue in good behavior? Not at all. In fact it has the complete opposite effect. The child feels good about getting rewarded for nothing at all, but in the long run the damage is irreparable! Free government hand outs are going to be the death of this country. Our history is saturated with stories of heroism, hardship, hard work, and overcoming obstacles. It is those traits and events that formed this country out of the wilderness, that formed what has been called the "Greatest Generation", and what ultimately formed a "More Perfect Union".

Adolph Hitler wrote in his book "Mein Kompf" that though many agree that history is to be learned from, the ignorant and proud are destined to repeat it. He hit the nail on the head. The ignorant and the proud are those who are wanting to move this country into the depths of socialism and ultimately the pit of destruction and poverty. Socialism has never done anything to boost a nation, create and instill drive and determination, or create economic stability much less prosperity. Yet many of you are being "Fat, dumb, and happy", filled with blissful ignorance, and are figuring that what you don't know won't hurt you.

Government provided income, "wealth", healthcare, and "spreading of the wealth" is a cancer. It will continue to grow and spread unless it is treated early and totally eradicated form the body of this great nation. Ignoring the future ramifications to receive the immediate reward is to sacrifice the future of this nation to the selfishness and the vanity of today.

Only that which is truly earned can make one feel proud of himself and in his work. "Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase." - King Solomon

Render Unto Caesar..

Tax season is here again. I know this because I have seen the Statue of Liberty mascots waving at me from the road as I drive past. I have seen the sudden outcropping of H&R Block offices that have sprung up like spring flowers, and I hear the airwaves bombarded with promises of getting you your refund fast (for a small fee). Right about now you are either hurriedly gathering the pertinent information to file your taxes and get your refund, or you are stalling, planning on filing an extension, and trying to figure out how you are going to pay what you owe. I hope you are the former.

There has been a lot in the news regarding taxes in the past weeks. Names like Geithner, Daschle, Killefer, and Rangel have been released from the media along with allegations of tax evasion, tax “mistakes”, illegal alien employees, and more. While this should be infuriating taxpayers on both sides of the partisan aisle, it should also be causing some pause within the ranks of the Commander In Chief.

President Obama has now hired a “Dirt Digger” to be a part of the White House legal team and has “accepted” the responsibility for the ordeal with Daschle. Will this dirt digger and a more aggressive role in digging for dirt alleviate the problem? Not on your tintype!

The issue at stake here is integrity and lack of experience. Integrity is all but gone from the Hill. Experience is not far behind. President Obama got so caught up in his new found power that he did not take the time to thoroughly question or investigate his appointees enough. Isn’t that what the vetting process is all about? Supposedly! However, the vetting process has become more of a formality or even pre-accepting party to celebrate the arrival of a fellow capitol hill club member. In this case the vetting process was praised as a good smoke and mirror decoy to deflect the focus off of the real problems.

We as a country are fortunate that this “appointment” situation is the first of the problems caused by inexperience. However it does bode the question of “How will it rear its ugly head again?” Will a series of mistakes be made when dealing with terrorists, or immigrants, or natural disasters? This is where time on the pond becomes of utmost importance. May God protect us from the errors of inexperience.

The other issue at stake is integrity. We have seen glimpse of the integrity of the President throughout his campaign. Glimpses such as his associations with Reverend Wright, Tony Rezko, and William Ayers cast a large shadow of doubt on the level of integrity held by the President. We have seen other glimpses such as birth certificate debates, health record releases or the lack thereof, and numerous and a sundry of minor looks into the man who now holds the reigns. In my opinion the character and integrity of those whom he wishes to surround himself with also lends a great indication of his own. The real issue is top down leadership. The followers reflect their leader, and we are in for a long four years.

The only way to combat such issues is face them head on and elect and support individuals with experience and integrity. The calling of another onto the proverbial carpet is nearly impossible to do, if the caller is a victim of the very same offense as the callee. That is why it took Senator Jim DeMint from South Carolina to make the first move and call out Tom Daschle. Senator DeMint is a man of character, integrity and experience; a man who does not fear the “dirt diggers” or the media circus. He is a man who should be elevated by the party to leadership status and should usher us through and out of this dark time of the lacking of experience and integrity. DeMint’12! A friend of mine commented the other day that “it took a Carter to gain a Reagan.” DeMint could be our next Reagan.

The true nature of cowardice and racism!

"WASHINGTON -- Eric Holder, the nation's first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was "a nation of cowards" on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues. " That was the beginning of an article from today's FoxNews.com. You can click the links to read the whole thing. But I must warn you....those of you who are not blinded by hate and racial bigotry will be exceedingly disturbed.

Holder made several comments that I am sure raised the roof with applause from what would have been deemed an extremist white power KKK meeting had the participants been all white and made the opposite statements. Statements such as ""Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards...we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race", and "If we're going to ever make progress, we're going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified." Well, here is your first chance to accept criticism. You are a racist Eric Holder!

Let's look at these comments in the order I have them listed. The first comment implies that America is lying about being a melting pot nation; merely hiding behind the guise of being one. I'm sure that many of you are quickly racing to the US Census Bureau website to look up demographics in America. Allow me to save you the time. The report lists the demographic segments as White (75%), Hispanic or Latino-American (12%), Black or African-American (12%), Asian (3%), American Indian and Alaskan Native (less than 1%), Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander (less than 1%). I too like you realize that these numbers add up to more than 100% but there is a note that says the numbers are skewed a bit due to rounding and that some Latino-Americans are counted in multiple categories. This very representation of our demographic is misleading and racist in itself. What do I mean? Where are the Scottish-Americans, the Irish Americans, the Norwegian Americans, the Russian Americans, and I can keep going until I list all of the other European country-Americans. I'll tell you where they are, they are included in the White category. This is obviously racist. I would venture a guess that more than 99% of "African"-Americans are at least three or four generations or more removed from Africa, yet they still take pride in being "African-American". My Grand Father, my Dad's father, was born and raised in Auland, a Finnish island whose people speak Swedish. I however, am an American, not an Aland-American, Swedish-American, or Finnish-American. I have more right to call myself by such a race inciting name than most African-Americans do because I am only one generation away from having been there. This has nothing to do with being white, this has to do with pride; pride in who I am and what this country has done for me and my family. If you aren't proud enough to drop the hyphen, then get out!! You are the racist not me. Call yourself an American and that would be a good start in bypassing the racial divide that you have set up in calling yourself by such a name.

"Cowards" is the term he uses to describe how this nation has dealt with the race issue. Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, these are but just a few of the "cowards" that Holder speaks of? After all these are some of the first names of the great civil rights leaders that have forwarded the charge. If by coward, Holder means "afraid", then I will be one of the first to admit that I am afraid to talk about race. If a white man opens his mouth about race he labeled a racist. This fear has come from the likes of Holder, and others who like to blame the plight of certain ethnic groups on the white man. Slavery ended over century ago, and racial segregation was all but eliminated until the installment of groups such as the NAACP, the United Negro College Fund, and more. What is gang? Do you want desegregation or do you want segregation? Make up your mind! If you want desegregation than drop the hyphenated names, and become Americans! Drop the stupid, racist movements like the NAACP, and the UNCF, and others and jump into the pool with all of the other Americans. You wanna talk cowardice? Let's talk about blaming others for your own condition. This is true cowardice! Holder goes on to talk about the injustice that is taking place in the justice system, and no he is not talking about closing Gitmo!! He is talking about the 38% of the prison population that are black. This is way out of proportion since the total population of Blacks in America is only 12%. I agree with him there that this number is way out of proportion. He goes on to blame racism, and racial bigotry. I don't agree with him there. Other stats were given at his speech indicating that 68% of Blacks were endanger of serving prison time, and only 4% of Whites, this too he attributed to racism. You want to know about cowardice here it is and Holder is a coward! Cowardice is being the first Black ever to hold the office of Attorney General, and blaming the plight of Blacks on racism instead of facing the truth about the real issues. The real issues are the role models and lifestyles that are emulated and imitated by the Black child. He or she (I wouldn't want to be called sexist either) will grow up being taught stories of hate and lies implicating that the Black man is still oppressed by the White man. He or she will grow up idolizing the "Gangsta Rapper", the NBA thug, the NFL criminal, the Michael Vick's of this world who take out there boredom pleasures by brutally abusing and killing animals and calling it fun. If the government want to intervene and address the problem, why not start with the role models? How dare you call Americans cowards Mr. Holder. I feel like the age old school boy with the retort of "It takes one to know one!"

The second comment that I have outlined above is my favorite one. According to Eric Holder we haven't made any progress in overcoming racism. He also makes the comment in the speech that "Saturdays and Sundays, America in the year 2009 does not in some ways differ significantly from the country that existed almost 50 years ago. This is truly sad." I wonder if he realizes that Blacks have every right afforded them that Whites do. Heck, they can even vote! I realize that he may have missed that one in the process of becoming the Attorney General. I wonder if he even realizes that a black man is the current President and that a black man is the current Attorney General, or that a black woman was the Secretary of State. Does he still sit in the back of the bus on Saturdays as goes to the blacks only restroom? What in the world is he talking about? I'll tell you what he is talking about...racism. He is inciting hatred and anger in a specific ethnic group by telling lies, painting bleak pictures, and using his authority as a leverage to gain trust and respect. All of this adds up to racism.

Wake up America!! Don't join the ranks of cowardice and racists like Holder. Speak out! Blacks who scream racism for every problem they face is the same as the child who learns that he gets what he wants by throwing a fit. The only way to overcome this child's fit trowing tempter tantrums is to "apply the rod of correction". Ignoring it only makes his tantrums louder!!

Economic Stimulus, or Dagger in the Back of Capitalism?

"This is not going to be a package that makes everybody happy, but the main criteria I have -- is it going to put people back to work? And I think it actually will," he said. "We can't afford to wait." - President Obama

How right he is. We can't afford to wait. So why is it, according to the Congressional Budget Office's estimate, that 64 percent of the total outlay would be spent by 2011, and the same CBO forecast anticipates that only 21 percent will reach the economy by October. That doesn't sound too immediate to me.

And on the subject, let's look at the line items of the package to see how intends on creating jobs which according to him is the "main" reason for the bill.

$70 Billion dollars of the package is slated for the AMT(Alternative Minimum Tax).

For those of you who don't know what the AMT Relief Act of 2008 is, it was a bone head liberal move by the Democratic controlled congress to make sure that the rich cannot avoid paying taxes. You know, crooks like Geithner, killefer, Rangel, and Daschel. The problem with the Act is that it isn't set for inflation so that now families with total income of over $45,000 per year are trapped into it, and their taxes sky-rocketed. Even in Lynchburg VA (where the cost of living is very low) $45,000 is not rich. Heck, it isn't barely middle class! So almost 10% of the "Stimulus bill" is directed to costing most Americans more in taxes. How does this create jobs or stimulate the economy?

The "Buy American" Clause

Don't get me wrong, I think it is always good to buy American first. However, if I bought American cars first, I would be paying more for a car that preforms less, and dies quicker. That isn't to smart now is it? It would also through the free market and capitalism right in the toilet. I will by American first, when American companies cut the wasteful spending (ie. Unions!!) and start lowering the cost of their product and upping the quality. This particular "Buy American" clause deals directly with the steal industry. It basically bars the purchase of any foreign iron and steel for an stimulus funded infrastructure projects. The scope of this is huge. Will this stimulate the economy. Well if you define stimulate as the driving up of costs, and limiting Americans freedom to purchase from the lowest bidder or highest quality, then yes it stimulates. It stimulates socialism. When American manufacturers of iron and steel are the only providers of this product, the demand goes up, and the supply goes down. That, in economic math, equals prices going up!! Not only that but what does this say to all of our trade allies? What if they decided to retaliate with a "Buy German" or "Buy Chinese" only plan in their already socialistic states. Americas exports greatly job, causing economic down turn the like that we have never seen. With demand low on all of our exports, production drops, jobs get cut, and companies close down. Raising prices on the only available product stimulates the economy how? Creating a trade war that results in the loss of millions of American's jobs creates jobs, how?

Where is the money coming from?

Tie money for this economic stimulus package which is now slated to cost over a trillion dollars, is going to come from one of only a few places. Option "A", it comes from the tax payer. It most certainly will. Option number 2...Print the Money!!. Either way the mere idea of stimulating the economy by increasing the national debt is absurd! Government cannot spend its way out of a recession. If that were true, America would be recession proof!! By increasing the national debt, taxes will be increased, and inflation will rise exponentially. You think this summers gas "crisis" was bad. Wait till we "Buy American" and increase inflation. I hope you all live close to your work so you can ride your bike!
Nobody likes recession, but the best way to make it through a recession is to wise with your money and spending when times are good. If you have little to know debt, what can a recession do to you. You may have to tighten the belt, suck it up, and cut back on some lavishes for a time, but in the end you will pull through just fine. Stop living above your means, stop buying on credit, and start owning what have. Recession is a necessary evil. It is the counter balance to inflation. By trying to spend our way out of recession, we are merely increasing the enormity of recession and just putting it off to be dealt with by another generation on a grander scale. Recession resets costs and supplies, and demand. It lowers the ever rising Cost of Goods, and resets the economy back to an affordable living. Yes it is tough, and we wish it would happen, but trying to spend our way out, just spells disaster. Economists (and apparently computer programmers) know that supply and demand, price setting, and cost are all controlled by the buyer, no the producer. If the buyer can't afford it, the producer lower the cost until the buy can buy it. Recession leads to market explosion and a stronger and more sound economy.

Do you want your children to have this problem when they grow older, only 10 times greater? Than lets not pass it on to them. Let's deal with it and grow past it! Let's not spend more to avoid it.

Change is coming!

Throughout his candidacy, President Obama has been touting "change". It has become his slogan for not only his campaign but for his Presidential era. If you go to the White House Website you will see his picture and next to it "Change Has Come To America!" As I pondered this thought, and read through the transcript of his inaugural speech I figured out exactly what that "change" is going to be.

“To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.”

In short America's policy on Terrorism will be changing, and in some respects already has.

America has long held, if not always held the position that we "do not negotiate with terrorists". In fact during the early days of the recent Israeli defense of its borders and people from the terrorist group Hamas, then President-Elect Obama said..

“We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel’s destruction. We should only sit down with Hamas if they renounce terrorism, recognize Israel’s right to exist and abide by past agreements.” He continued with
“Hamas is not a state. Hamas is a terrorist organization,”

However, this does not seem to be his policy after all. We have heard several sound bites in the recent pass that have indicated that America should be negotiating a truce/cease fire between the country of Israel and the terrorist group of Hamas. The liberal media has done nothing but paint Israel as the bad guy for attacking and not negotiating with terrorists and now this proclamation from the newly inaugurated President, shows exactly where our policy is going.

Iraq set aside, did America have a right to declare war on the terrorists (Al Qaeda) after their blatant and deliberate attack on American soil on 9/11. According to the polls immediately after President Bush did so more than 90% of the nation thought so. So why doesn't Israel have the right to defend it's borders?

We have already heard of several massive celebrations across the globe that have taken place in honor of the 44th President. Even his birth place of Kenya was celebrating. The media and the leftist propagandists will tell you that they are celebrating relief from the "evil hand of President Bush". In fact they are celebrating that a Muslim, and one who is overly interested in forming a relationship of "mutual interest and mutual respect" with terrorists and known enemies of the state, has taken office.

I am happy for President Obama, he has been given a distinction that only 44 men in the nations history have ever achieved, and has been set apart as holding a distinction that he alone holds in being the first African-American President (especially since he was born in Kenya). I wish him well, and I salute him with respect as my new Commander-in-Chief. I would not want his job, nor do I claim to know how to do his job, but one thing I know is that a good leader learns from the example of those that preceded him, and 44 other great men of distinction and character held to the policy that America does not negotiate with terrorists. Perhaps, if I may respectfully offer my suggestion, he should keep that one intact.

We are seeing change already. May God protect America from this change as it may go down in the history books as the start of the fall of the greatest country to ever exist.

Very respectfully and at your service,

Our Families are under attack!! Satan is going after the strongest of God's institutions, and we need to fight back!

It has come to my attention in the past two days that both the US and the UN are taking upon themselves the role of Children and Family protectors. Something that God appointed the Church, the husband, and the wife to do. Below are tow different blogs from mine and others Facebook pages.

Have you ever bought a children's toy, or article of clothing, or book from a second hand store, reseller, or ebay? Sure you have. You've probably sold some items too. Upon purchasing or selling the item did you worry about having to pay massive fines or even going to jail to do so? You had better think about that now!!

The most recent exercise in neo-socialism is set to start in February of this year! It is called the Consumer Product and Safety Improvement ACT (CSPIA). In short it is a law that will force manufacturers and sellers of childrens products to pay exorbitant fees for testing the products before selling them. Resellers such as Once Upon a Child and the like aren't required by the new law to test the products they currently have on their shelves. Don't get to excited about that, because though the law does not require them to test the products, it does hold them criminally liable if they sell one. So obviously the best course of action to avoid huge fines and jail times is to pay for the testing which can cost upwards of $4000.00. So that cute slightly used baby swing that would cost you $20 in the consignment shop will now cost you $4020.00 in the name of the government trying to protect your children from their toys!!

Not only will this Act force several resellers and local merchants out of business, but it will drive toy and product prices up as the manufacturers will also have to compensate for the testing fees imposed on them. And you thought you spent too much on Christmas this year. Fortunately, the government has issued a statement clarifying the laws, and encouraging resellers specifically to avoid certain types of products. What a list!!! It basically eliminates every product in the shop.

If the government was so concerned with the protection of my family they wouldn't be try to remove my 2nd Amendment right of keeping and bearing arms. We don't want any child to die by choking on a dolly's eyeball, at least not the ones that survive abortion anyway. Instead they are going to "address" the economy by instituting more fees and regulations, and force prices up in a market that is recession proof....childrens products.

I wonder if there will be a "Childrens Products Resellers Bailout".
And the UN is doing its part as well...

Washington Times Op-ed—U.N. Treaty Might Weaken Families

by J. Michael Smith
HSLDA President

One of the issues American families could face this year is the ramifications from a treaty called the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

You may ask, “How could a treaty directly affect internal decision-making by American families?” We generally think of treaties as agreements affecting international relations between countries. The U.N., however, has initiated treaties that not only affect international relations, but also the domestic relations of member nations as well. These treaties, sometimes called “conventions,” require member nations that ratify the treaty to implement the requirements as binding law or rules.

On Nov. 20, 1989, the U.N. adopted the CRC and submitted it for ratification to the member nations. It has been ratified by 193 nations—the United States is one of the few countries that has not ratified it.

The ratification process requires a two-thirds vote by the U.S. Senate. On Feb. 16, 1995, Madeleine Albright, the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., signed the CRC on behalf of the United States. The CRC, however, has never been sent to the Senate for ratification because there is insufficient support to pass it.

Due to the recent election, however, there are rumblings from Capitol Hill that there will be an effort to seek ratification of the CRC during the next congressional cycle. Hillary Rodham Clinton is a strong supporter of the treaty, and as secretary of state, would have direct control over the submission of treaties to the Senate.

Why should passage of the CRC be of concern? It likely would have a negative impact on domestic law and practice in the United States. Article VI of our Constitution makes treaties—and remember, conventions are viewed as treaties—“the supreme law of the land.” The CRC would be treated as superior to laws in every state regarding the parent-child relationship. This would include issues regarding education, health care, family discipline, the child’s role in family decision-making, and a host of other subjects.

Article 43 of the CRC establishes an international committee on the rights of the child to examine compliance by member nations. This committee, which sits in Geneva, has final authority concerning interpretation of the language contained in the CRC.

Two central principles of the CRC clearly are contrary to current U.S. laws related to parent-child relationships. The CRC provides that in all matters relating to children, whether private or public, or in courts, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration. Additionally, nations should ensure that children are capable of expressing their views freely in all matters affecting them, giving due weight to the age and maturity of the child.

This is contrary to traditional American law, which provides that absent proof of harm, courts and social workers simply do not have the authority to intervene in parent-child relationships and decision-making. The importance of this tradition and practice is that the government may not substitute its judgment for that of the parent until there is proof of harm to the child sufficient to justify governmental intervention. It is clear that in two very important areas of the parent-child relationship, religion and education, there will be potential for tremendous conflict.

The international committee in Geneva, in reviewing the laws of practice of countries that have ratified the CRC, has expressed its concern that parents could homeschool without the view of the child being considered; that parents could remove their children from sex-education classes without the view of the child being considered; that parents were legally permitted to use corporal punishment; and that children didn’t have access to reproductive health information without parental knowledge.

The bottom line is the CRC would drastically weaken the United States’ sovereignty over family life, which would have a substantial impact on every American family. For more information on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child,

A running trend.

I was just perusing my last three blogs, and it hit me. There is a constant theme. If not to the stories themselves, then to my responses. Personal responsibility! Something that scares me worse than any other privilege that an American is losing in the name of bigger government, is that of losing personal responsibility. What is worse is that the average American voter is tossing it at the feet of the elected official like it is some kind of offering or token that they can carry into battle on the floors of the Senate and House; or in the last election...the highest office in the land.

Personal responsibility is something that our fore fathers not only assumed existed, but counted on when penning and ratifying the Constitution. This is why this great and living document is offering such misunderstanding to those who are growing into its importance and translation. Let's take a look at the Bill of Rights:

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to freely exercise the participation in the religion of your choice without offending an others' right to theirs. Without personal responsibility it is impossible to have a true freedom of the press. A freedom that requires responsibly printing and reporting the truth, without infringing on an others' freedom to do the same. Without personal responsibility it is impossible to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Without personal responsibility, the Constitution doesn't make any sense. After all, how can an American have the right to keep and bear arms without the personal responsibility to control that right, and to not infringe on the rights of others while exercising that right?

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to uphold even the most forgotten or non-applicable rights such as not unlawfully quartering a soldier

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to retain the right against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to truly uphold the right of Due Process, or just compensation

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to have an impartial jury.

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to uphold and enforce common law

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to protect from cruel and unusual punishment.

Without personal responsibility it is impossible to not infringe on the rights of others.

Without personal responsibility it is impossible it is impossible to empower the people.

I realize that I went on and on, and you probably got the point after the first one or two, but I felt it was necessary to include at least the first ten amendments to show that the freedoms we hold dear are under fire because the people have lost the ability to govern themselves without personal responsibility.

The beautiful thing about America's form of government is that though the Presidency is the highest office in the land, the people are still the most powerful. The elected officials should fear, and respect their electors. They should rule the way that the people want them to, or they should fear being fired. There is no reason that the approval rating of the President should be so low, nor the approval rating of Congress be even lower. The reason is because people have forgotten or given away their responsibility. Have you written your elected official recently regarding anything that you have disagreed with? Did you view your vote this past November as a chance to make American a better nation or as a chance to decide the next President will be a black man? If you disapprove with Congress, did you vote to elect someone you approve of? If so, did you or do you constantly keep him/her in line and force them to hold to their election promises by writing to them and reminding them that they too have personal responsibility?

The MySpace.com case, the bailouts, the public schools, national health care, social security, immigration, etc. are all being handled by the government or the people want then government to handle them because we the people have no personal responsibility. In the movie "Spiderman", Uncle Ben tells Peter that "with great power comes great responsibility". I think he is wrong. I think that with great responsibility comes great power! We are losing the power, the freedoms, by casting our responsibility on the government. Personal responsibility is hard, but it yields great reward and greater freedom.

This year make your resolution to increase your responsibility, to teach it to your children, and practice it in your home. If enough of the people take back their personal responsibility the government will be free to ensure our freedoms, and be powerless to take them from us!

God calls it self control, and it comes naturally as a fruit of the Spirit. Get back to God, seek Him first, and you will take back what is yours and not the governments. I will do this. It is my resolution.

Phyllis Schlafly is almost right.

Today on Townhall.com Phyllis Schlafly wrote an article that blames the public school system for the 32% of "Evangelical" young adults age 18 - 29 who voted for Barak Obama. While it is obviously very clear that the public school system is corrupt, and driven by the liberal political machine, I don't think that it accounts for the full 32%. In fact I don't think it accounts for even 10%.

Phyllis did a great job at showing how are children are effected by the public school system propaganda. However, I don't know that this is the best explanation of why young adults are or did vote for Obama. They are spoiled by their parents who forgot to be parents and tried to be "the good guy".They want the government to provide everything for them just as mommy and daddy did. They want their brand new car and car insurance that they didn't have to earn. They want their fancy electronics and cool new clothes that they didn't have to earn. Today's young adults and children don't now how to earn. All they know how to do is throw fits until mommy gives in and gives them what they want. They are doing the same thing with the government. Bail out plans are rapidly fueling this "spoiled" state. The exclamation by the Obama supporter who touted never having to pay for her mortgage or gas again wasn't showing her ignorance, she was showing her heart. "For out of the mouth the heart speaks". Public schools do a fantastic job of reinforcing what they children are being taught at home. You wanna point fingers....point them at the responsible party. I'm am no fan at all of the public school system, and am in the process of home schooling my children starting next year. What are you doing in your home to teach your children responsibility, how to earn what they get, and work hard to exceed?

I don't claim to be the best parent ever. In fact, I'm pretty far from it, but to be a good parent takes hard work. Maybe that is the problem. We don't want to work hard at being a parent and the kids pick up on our weakness. It is just as simple as top down leadership. Will revamping the public school system change the value structures of our future children? Will reforming the home do that better?

There is one other factor that I believe is part of the blame. Everybody these days are "Evangelical". Like the "conservatives" of the Republican party, the benchmark was lowered, the catechism forgotten, the rules set aside. I have a feeling that those who attended Reverend Wright's church consider themselves "Evangelical". The numbers are a bit skewed...another problem that stems from the home, not the church.

In politics, there is no such thing as a “final indignity,” but this is pretty darn close:

I stole the title to today's blog from a story on RedState.com. I couldn't resist, due to the colossal error that President Bush has been making and is now making again with these bailouts.

America has survived for years...232 to be exact...without any "bailout" intervention from our government into private business. However, where should the fault be placed? Who is really to blame?

Let's look at the players:
The Government

The "Big Three" (a real misnomer)

The UAW

The Consumer..hmmmm

Let's discuss each. First the Government. there is great debate on whether this is an appropriate measure or not. My opinion is that it is not. Either way, there are some fishy things taking place that the media is choosing not to cover. For example, did Congress vote on this most recent bail out decision? No. They voted to give money to the financial institutions through the TARP fund, but to take money from that fund and give it to the auto industry was never voted on. Does the President has the power to solely decide where the tax payers money goes? NO! there fore this is an illegal move. The vote was to give that money to the financial institutions not to auto makers. Bad move President Bush. Will anything come of it? No! By the time a motion is filed, reviewed, and so on, it will be January 20th and we will have a new President and new Congress and the measure will probably fly through both houses. So where is the reason to fight this abuse of power? Principle! Something the Hill is rapidly losing and forgetting about amongst the power wielding. Fortunately a few member of Congress sent a letter to the President addressing just that. It is obvious that he has chosen to ignore them as is proven by the news this morning.

The "Big Three" auto makers. How did they get to the point of needing to be bailed out? I am a big proponent of free enterprise, and if a company wishes to award it CEO and other execs with multimillion dollar salaries, that so be it. i have no problem with that. However, if the companies were being forced to follow the already established bail out option called Bankruptcy they would probably cut those salaries a bit as well as other needless spending. GM says it needs 18 Billion dollars to make it. Imagine how much money they would have saved in the last 20 years had the been a bit more frugal with there money. Enter the UAW!

The United Auto Workers Union. Almost sounds like Union of Soviet Socialists Republic. The UAW is a major problem. Explore some of the "benefits" sometime that come with being a member of such a Union. Ridiculous salary demands, even more ridiculous demands for compensation for those who get laid off, and so on. However, I'm not going to spend a lot of time here.

The consumer. How do they play into the game? They drive it (no pun intended). That is right, the ultimate puppet master in this whole rigmarole is you. When did America forget that it is a "Government of the people, for the people, and by the people"? People who are spending way over their heads and budgets. People who are calling out for rescue from their responsibilities. People who love to complain about the state of things, but don't communicate those complaints to their elected officials. People who give the Government the power to decide what happens to your tax dollars without asking you. The Government can only control what the people allow them to.

Therein lies the problem. the average American has forgotten what a hard days work is. The average American has forgotten what it means to earn, and has been indoctrinated with the idea that they "deserve". A government only reflects the wishes of its people. We are getting what we are asking for. You want Government handouts, you want "free" health care, you want to "never have to pay for gas or for [your] mortgage again"? This is what comes with it. A week nation, a week people, a nation of spoiled children throwing fits about what the other child has and that it isn't fair that they don't have it. Wake up! What happened to the days of responsibility, earning what you have, buying something only if you can afford it, standing up for what you believe? It is the people's fault. It is your fault. It is my fault.

Allow me to put in a little plug to the Christians who are reading this. It is your fault! A verse that many of us have hanging in our homes comes from Joshua 24:15 "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord". This verse is not as great as we hold it up to be. You see Joshua was the leader of the Israelites, and was in charge of making changes, holding the people accountable, and enacting the Law of God. He began to become depressed, and discouraged, and finally got fed up with the people, and issued this statement in 20:2 "..choose you this day whom you will serve.." but as for me... He was giving up. Not on his personal belief in God, but in his belief that he has the responsibility too and can make a difference.

Shortly following that speech comes the book of the Judges. A time where the people of Israel had forgotten the times of Joshua and went desperately astray and wicked. Don't let your children forget who God really is, don't let them fall into the trap of "deserving" and remind them that the only thing we deserve is Hell, but that the Grace of God offers and promises us more. With that more...comes more responsibility. Let's have our voices be heard in one accord. In union. There are enough Christians left in American that we can fulfill the spot of "We the people", and change the direction of this government. We are still a democratic republic. Our voices, our votes still drive this nation. We have to decide that the way of responsibility, the way of hard work and earning, is the way we should go, not the easy path of "deserving". "For broad is the way and wide is the gate that leadeth to destruction."

MySpace bullying case.

Before I give a bit of my opinion on this, I wish to start by saying that I am always careful when posting opinions such as these. I do not wish to downplay the seriousness of the bullying problem nor do I wish to attempt to know the grief that the surviving family of Megan Meier must be feeling because of their loss.

That being said....

The biggest crime being committed here, aside from the fact that it was done at all, is that there are criminal charges against those who did the bullying. Do you realize what will happen to our children, teenagers, and parents if the verdict is guilty?

I try my hardest to be the best Dad I can be. I try to teach my children (all four of them ranging in ages from 2 to 8) how to be polite, respect others, and treat others how God would have them to do, but they are kids. I'm sure all of us can remember being bullied, and I am also sure that if we are honest with ourselves we can all remember a time where we probably did some bullying too. Maybe not to the extreme measures that have taken place here, or as the bully threatening to beat up your classmates if they didn't hand over their milk money or Little Debbie snack cakes, but we have all been on both the receiving side and giving side of negative peer pressure at one time or another.

I remember when I was in the 3rd grade there was a bully in my class named Shane. he was much bigger than all of us (as he had been held back several years). He tormented me. I was the kind "small" kid in the class and I had a tender spirit, or as my brother likes to say....I was a wimp. I still remember the pain and agony that I felt as well as the fear. My father was not a violent person, and he tried to handle the situation in what ways seem appropriate at the time. He instructed me to ignore the hurtful words, and just go on as if he wasn't there. He instructed me to ask Shane nicely to stop. When all else failed, we had a family meeting around the dinner table to discuss the facts of "Bullies". My father instructed me to stand up to him. So the next time Shane threatened to beat me up, I told him he could have his chance. he had to meet me after school, because school was not the place for that. We set a time and place, and I waited for quite sometime, and he never showed. I didn't make a big deal out of it. I didn't announce the next day that Shane didn't show, but that was the end of it.

I realize that my situation was in the third grade, and that not all situations should be handled that way. however, my family was involved. They didn't call the school, or the teacher, or Shane's parents, but they invested themselves in me,and I trusted in them. I learned valuable lessons about deciphering what was constructive criticism and what was worthless name calling and how to deal with it emotionally and physically. My parents taught me street smarts, and common sense. They taught me how to choose friends, and how to control my emotions and pride. I'm not perfect and neither are my parents, but the principles are there.

Where was Megan's mother when she was spending hours on the internet. Where was Megan's parents when she was depressed and emotionally hurt? Where was the concern and care from her friends and family?

I do not pretend to know the answer to those questions. I do however know a few things about parents and kids. I was a childrens pastor,a high school teacher, and a karate instructor of many kids ages 5 to 16. There is a lack of discipline, involvement, and love in many households today in the name of "Jane needs her space", or "Its John's room, I have no right to look through it", or "I want my children to like me, I couldn't spank them, or ground them, that would hurt them".

There were times when I hated my parents for checking up on me, giving me curfews, and wanting to know where I was going and occasionally checking to see if I was there. I felt untrusted, I even "felt" unloved at times, but as I have matured into a man and father I realize that they loved me more than life itself. My parents realized that they were to be my parents, not necessarily my friend. The two did coincide often, but love is tough, and they were. I'm so glad they were....now.

There is no doubt that the lowest form of cowardice is bullying, and it is disgusting, evil, and shameful that a parent would engage in bullying and lying with their child in order to harass another child, but it is not against the law, nor does it "cause" someone to kill themselves. A lack of love, discipline, and involvement, coupled with depression and aided by an inaccurate self view that is encouraged by parents, is more likely the case. the bullying was just the proverbial straw. Megan's parents should be on trial. Megan's "friends" should be on trial.

May God forbid that my children should be victims, or that I should ever be so caught up with myself, that I "can't" be there for them. May God help me to be a parent!

Huckabee. The Leader of the new conservative movement?

With the election season over and America preparing for a new President, many have taken the time to look to the inside and see where their party or voter base went "wrong" or "right". After all, we are to learn from the past whether good or bad.

Some however, have taken to more mudslinging and the blame game instead. Mike Huckabee's book is hitting the newsstands today, and it is full of lashing out at others in his own party as well as denomination and more for his loss in the primaries.

Don't get me wrong, I believe Huckabee is a very Godly man, and loves the Lord, but that does not automatically qualify him as President, nor does it automatically qualify him as a Conservative. For example...

"Many conservative Christian leaders — who never backed Huckabee, despite their holding similar stances on social issues — are spared neither the rod nor the lash. Huckabee writes of Gary Bauer, the conservative Christian leader and former presidential candidate, as having an "ever-changing reason to deny me his support." Of one private meeting with Bauer, Huckabee says, "It was like playing Whac-a-Mole at the arcade — whatever issue I addressed, another one surfaced as a 'problem' that made my candidacy unacceptable."He also accuses Bauer of putting national security before bedrock social issues like the sanctity of life and traditional marriage. "

Hmmm, maybe if Mr. Huckabee understood the constitution as a true conservative does, he too would see that putting an issue such as National Security (which is a federal issue) versus abortion or traditional marriage (which are state issues) is precisely what a Conservative should put first when running for the highest office in the Federal Government.

Don't get me wrong. I too believe that abortion is a heinous crime, and totally reprehensible. I also believe that the establishment of marriage is that of one woman and one man joined together. They are both major thermometers of the direction of the country, and toward the integrity and values of the President, but should not be the main concern of a President. In fact to legislate (on the Federal level) such things as marriage and abortion, is as defined by the Constitution providing for more Federal involvement, and "Bigger" Government, something a true conservative does not believe in. I do also understand those issues all point to the types of Supreme Court Justices that will be apointed, but they alone do not make a person "conservative"

Conservatism is not a two or three issue position, and Mike's stance on economic issues and National Security issues are far from conservative. Raising taxes (whether to appease the Democrats or for other reasons), giving immunity to current illegals, and other stances should have most conservatives concerned.

Mike Huckabee should have a place in the future of the conservative movement, but not as its leader or poster child. A proponent of the sanctity of life, no doubt. An example of Christian values and morals, definitely. But the leader of Neo-Conservatism no thank you. Men like Senator Jim DeMint, and Former Senator and Presidential Candidate Fred Thompson should be the voice of the conservatives, both in word and in deed.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be

George W's War!

The following was posted on my friend Rob's facebook sight.

No one likes war. War is a horrific affair, bloody and expensive.
Sending our men and women into battle to perhaps die or be maimed is an
unconscionable thought.

Yet some wars need to be waged, and someone needs to lead. The citizenry and
Congress are often ambivalent or largely opposed to any given war.
It's up to our leader to convince them. That's why we call the leader
"Commander in Chief."

George W.'s war was no different. There was lots of resistance to it.
Many in Congress were vehemently against the idea. The Commander in Chief
had to lobby for legislative approval.

Along with supporters, George W. used the force of his convictions, the
power of his title and every ounce of moral suasion he could muster to rally
support. He had to assure Congress and the public that the war was morally
justified, winnable and affordable. Congress eventually came around and
voted overwhelmingly to wage war.

George W. then lobbied foreign governments for support. But in the end, only
one European nation helped us. The rest of the world sat on its hands and
watched.

After a few quick victories, things started to go bad. There were many dark
days when all the news was discouraging. Casualties began to mount.

It became obvious that our forces were too small. Congress began to drag its
feet about funding the effort.

Many who had voted to support the war just a few years earlier were
beginning to speak against it and accuse the Commander in Chief of
misleading them. Many critics began to call him incompetent, an idiot and
even a liar. Journalists joined the negative chorus with a vengeance.

As the war entered its fourth year, the public began to grow weary of the
conflict and the casualties. George W.'s popularity plummeted. Yet through
it all, he stood firm, supporting the troops and endorsing the struggle.

Without his unwavering support, the war would have surely ended, then and
there, in overwhelming and total defeat.

At this darkest of times, he began to make some changes. More troops were
added and trained. Some advisers were shuffled, and new generals installed.

Then, unexpectedly and gradually, things began to improve. Now it was the
enemy that appeared to be growing weary of the lengthy conflict and losing
support. Victories began to come, and hope returned.

Many critics in Congress and the press said the improvements were just
George W.'s good luck. The progress, they said, would be temporary. He knew,
however, that in warfare good fortune counts.

Then, in the unlikeliest of circumstances and perhaps the most historic
example of military luck, the enemy blundered and was resoundingly defeated.
After six long years of war, the Commander in Chief basked in a most
hard-fought victory.

So on that historic day, Oct. 19, 1781, in a place called Yorktown, a
satisfied George Washington sat upon his beautiful white horse and accepted
the surrender of Lord Cornwallis, effectively ending the Revolutionary War.

36 Lies!

This is certainly too good to not send it on. Everyone should study, absorb and fill their heads with knowledge about any candidate, regardless of political party affiliation, and the message below will be a good start. Many people vote 'party' or for emotional reasons.. looks, speech, etc. ..hope you don't.

1.) Selma Got Me Born - NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 - Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965. (Google 'Obama Selma' for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)

2.) Father Was A Goat Herder - NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.

3.) Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter - NOT EXACTLY, he was part of one of the most corrupt and violent governments Kenya has ever had.

4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom - NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga h as created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba ma, is Odinga's follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that....and for more.
Obama's cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers have burned Christians' homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took shelter.. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started. Google Obama and Odinga and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.

5.) My Grandmother Has Alw ays Been A Christian - NOT EXACTLY, she does her daily Salat prayers at 5am according to her own inter views. Not to mention, Christianity wouldn't allow her to have been one of 14 wives to 1 man.

6.) My Name is African Swahili - NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and 'Baraka' (from which Barack came) means 'blessed' in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama is not half black. If elected, he would be the first Arab-American President, not the first black President. Barack Hussein Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother's side and 43.75% Arabic and 6.25% African Negro from his father's side. While Barack Hussein Obama's father was from Kenya, his father's family was mainly Arabs.. Barack Hussein Obama's father was only 12.5% African Negro and 87.5% Arab (his father's birth certificate even states he's Arab, not African Negro). From....and for more....go to.....
http://www.arcadeathome.com/newsboy.phtml?Barack_Hussein_Obama_-_Arab-American,_only_6.25%25_African

7.) I Never Practiced Islam - NOT EXACTLY, you practiced it daily at school, where you were registered as a Muslim and kept that faith for 31 years, until your wife made you change, so you could run for office.
4-3-08 Article 'Obama was 'quite religious in islam'' http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=60559 ;

8.) My School In Indonesia Was Christian - NOT EXACTLY, you were registered as Muslim there and got in trouble in Koranic Studies for making faces (check your own book).
February 28, 2008. Kristoff from the New York Times a year ago: Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as 'one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.' This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says 'Obama's narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.'

9.) I Was Fluent In Indonesian - NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

10.) Because I Lived In Indonesia, I Have More Foreign Experience - NOT EXACTLY, you were there from the ages of 6 to 10, and couldn't even speak the language. What did you learn, ....... how to study the Koran and watch cartoons.

11.) I Am Stronger On Foreign Affairs - NOT EXACTLY, except for Africa (surprise) and the Middle East (bigger surprise), you have never been anywhere else on the planet and thus have NO experience with our closest allies.

12.) I Blame My Early Drug Use On Ethnic Confusion - NOT EXACTLY, you were quite content in high school to be Barry Obama, no mention of Kenya and no mention of struggle to identify - your classmates said you were just fine.

13.) An Ebony Article Moved Me To Run For Office - NOT EXACTLY, Ebony has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

14.) A Life Magazine Article Changed My Outlook On Life - NOT EXACTLY, Life has yet to find the article you mention in your book. It doesn't, and never did, exist.

15.) I Won't Run On A National Ticket In '08 - NOT EXACTLY, here you are, despite saying, live on TV, that you would not have enough exper ience by then, and you are all about having experience first.

16.) Voting 'Present' is Common In Illinois Senate - NOT EXACTLY, they are common for YOU, but not many others have 130 NO VOTES.

17.) Oops, I Misvoted - NOT EXACTLY, only when caught by church groups and Democrats, did you beg to change your misvote.

18.) I Was A Professor Of Law - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

19.) I Was A Constitutional Lawyer - NOT EXACTLY, you were a senior lecturer ON LEAVE.

20.) Without Me, There Would Be No Ethics Bill - NOT EXACTLY, you didn't write it, introdu ce it, change it, or create it.

21.) The Ethics Bill Was Hard To Pass - NOT EXACTLY, it took just 14 days from start to finish.

22.) I Wrote A Tough Nuclear Bill - NOT EXACTLY, your bill was rejected by your own party for its pandering and lack of all regulation - mainly because of your Nuclear donor, Exelon, from which David Axelrod came.

23.) I Have Released My State Records - NOT EXACTLY, as of March, 2008, state bills you sponsored or voted for have yet to be released, exposing all the special interests pork hidden within.

24.) I Took On The Asbestos Altgeld Gardens Mess - NOT EXACTLY, you were part of a large group of people who remedied Altgeld Gardens. You failed to mention anyone else but yourself, in your books.

25.) M y Economics Bill Will Help America - NOT EXACTLY, your 111 economic policies were just combined into a proposal which lost 99-0, and even YOU voted against your own bill.

26. ) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois - NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.

27.) I Passed 26 Of My Own Bills In One Year - NOT EXACTLY, they were not YOUR bills, but rather handed to you, after their creation by a fel low Senator, to assist you in a future bid for higher office.

28.) No One on my campaign contacted Canada about NAFTA - NOT EXACTLY, the Candian Government issued the names and a memo of the conversation your campaign had with them.

29.) I Am Tough On Terrorism - NOT EXACTLY, you missed the Iran Resolution vote on terrorism and your good friend Ali Abunimah supports the destruction off Israel.

30.) I Want All Votes To Count - NOT EXACTLY, you said let the delegates decide.

31.) I Want Americans To Decide - NOT EXACTLY, you prefer caucuses that limit the vote, confuse the voters, force a public vote, and only operate during small windows of time.

32.) I passed 900 Bills in the State Senate - NOT EXACTLY, you passed 26, most of which you didn't write yourself.

33.) I Believe In Fairness, Not Tactics - NOT EXACTLY, you used tactics to eliminate Alice Palmer from running against you.

34.) I Don't Take PAC Money - NOT EXACTLY, you take loads of it.

35.) I don't Have Lobbysists - NOT EXACTLY, you have over 47 lobbyists, and counting.

36.) My Campaign Had Nothing To Do With The 1984 Ad - NOT EXACTLY, your own campaign worker made the ad on his Apple in one afternoon.

37.) I Have Always Been Against Iraq - NOT EXACTLY, you weren't in office to vote against it AND you have voted to fund it every single time.

38.) I Have Always Supported Universal Health Care - NOT EXACTLY, your plan leaves us all to pay for the 15,000,000 who don't have to buy it.

Who does not understand should either learn, or be silent.

Joe's note: Just today Fox News stated that Barack Obama had made the statement, in a speech, that his uncle had help liberate the Jews from Auswitch Concentration Camp at the end of WWII. NOT EXACTLY: Obama does not have an uncle, as his mother, who is white, had no brothers. His father's people are not Americans. And Auswitch Concentration Camp was liberated by the Russians, not the Americans, as Auschwitz is in Poland and American troops were never there. (This hasn't been carried in the general media which is overlooking Obama's 'misstatements.')

Letter to the Editor from a Cuban . . .
A most interesting and foreboding letter.

From Richmond Times-Dispatch, Monday, July 7, 2008 ~

Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch:

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day, and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said, 'Praise the Lord.' And when the young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education, it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America ?

Would we?

I couldn't say it better myself, so I'll let him say it! A charge to conservatives from Senator Jim DeMint.

National Review: Principles Before Policies – Conservative reconnection

By Jim DeMint
5/20/08

In the 1980s, Ronald Reagan singlehandedly turned around the American economy. On the heels of the lackluster Carter years that saw high inflation and a poorly performing economy, Reagan proposed sweeping income tax cuts that transformed the American tax system. Indeed, Reagan’s policies have been credited for ushering in a new era of American prosperity.

By all accounts, the tax cuts of the 80’s were a massive success as were many other conservative wins over the last two decades. Defeating the “Evil Empire,” reforming the failed welfare bureaucracy, and winning confirmation of conservative judges — these are just some examples of conservative victories that made America better. And on these victories we must always defend the ground we have won because in Washington, no victories are permanent.

But today we have a problem.

A kind of mental lethargy now exists in my party. We are relying on these brilliant and successful policies of the past to be our principles of today. This is completely backwards. The greatness of conservatism has been an understanding that policies are derivatives of principles. Principles never change, policies do. The trick is finding the correct application of principle-based policies that fit our time.

In his later years, the late great William F. Buckley Jr. seemed to understand this. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal he complained about an American Right that seemed rudderless. “I think conservatism has become a little bit slothful,” Buckley told the Wall Street Journal. The Journal went on to write that Buckley’s private criticisms cut to the core even more; “Part of it, [Buckley] believed, was that what used to be living ideas had become mummified doctrines to many in the conservative political class.”

As Buckley once put it, these “old rigidities” are holding our party back.

The tax cuts of the 1980s were not only a timely elixir for an ailing economy, they were right in and of themselves because they were consistent with founding American principles.

Cutting taxes means shifting power from the federal government to the American people. It forces the government to be smaller, so that Americans can have more freedom. In doing this Reagan aligned himself with the principles of liberty and economic opportunity for all. It was Reagan’s firm understanding of these principles that allowed him to sell his policy.

When promoting his tax plan Reagan spoke of an “opportunity society” that lay ahead if only we had the courage to embrace the principles of freedom. “We will encourage all Americans — men and women, young and old, individuals of every race, creed, and color — to succeed and be healthy, happy, and whole,” said Reagan. “This is our goal.”

Contrast this approach with the recent effort by my party to sell personal accounts for Social Security. Instead of focusing on the principle of economic opportunity for all, we focused on “solvency.” Instead of explaining that this approach to Social Security would allow every American — rich and poor, black and white — to retire a millionaire, we talked about wage indexing and rates of return. By the end of the debate, Republicans were running for the hills as liberal scare tactics about “privatization” had won the day.

We suffer this fate because we do not take the time to understand the principles that berth our policies.

Jefferson’s idea of individual liberty, Lincoln’s championing of equal rights for all, Teddy Roosevelt’s heart for conservation and Kennedy’s call for American volunteerism — these are principles embedded in the American experience. Appealing to them tugs at our fellow Americans’ heartstrings as well as “headstrings.” In other words, as Americans we all understand these principles at an intuitive, gut level because they are part of who we are.

A renewed embrace of first principles will refresh a movement that of late has seen better days. Furthermore, this approach will allow us far greater latitude when it comes to the actual policies we promote today.

It has been in part our strict adherence to the lifeless “mummified doctrines” of the past that has contributed to our diminished standing with the American people.

There was a time when the Republican party was rightly seen as the party of ideas. Under Reagan in the Eighties and the congressional revolutionaries of the mid 1990s, ideas were free flowing as our leaders focused first on American principles as the foundation for their policies. Somewhere along the way we lost this and began replacing principled convictions and forward-looking policies with nostalgia for policies and politicians of past eras. When that happened we stopped connecting with the American people.

Given the choice between policies that spring forth from American principles and those that do not, the American people will chose the former every time. These are the principles that are engrained in the American character. Our fellow citizens agree that principles like liberty, economic opportunity, self-government, equal rights, and the rule of law should form the bedrock of public policy.

Now, if we can just get the politicians to agree.

— Jim DeMint is a Republican senator from South Carolina.

This is the first piece in a series of op-eds from Senator DeMint. The following entries will examine the principles that are foundational to the American experience and suggest policies that align with those principles.

How to Catch Wild Pigs. Or Better... How the Government is Trapping You.

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Prof noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ' Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them a n d catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, free medical, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms - just a little at a time.

One should always remember 'There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

All of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have.' ....... Thomas Jefferson

The Media's Latest Attempt to Propogate a Socialist America

There are no major news stories to report on this topic, no headlines, no conspiracy theories, or devastation to report. In fact that is the problem. To quote a movie, "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled, was convincing the world that he doesn't exist." This is the new tactic of the Liberals and the Mainstream Media.

Don't know what I am talking about? Just what and who are conservatives? You may have a hard time answering that question. The media has been using the terms "Liberal", and "Democrat" interchangeably, and they have also been using "Conservative" and "Republican" as synonyms. If America should have learned anything from the Bush Presidency or from the Republicans current candidate, it is that Republicans and Conservatives are not one-and-the-same. Likewise, neither are dems and libs. The media has been engaging in a slow but steady trend of melding the two terms on either side together. So what?

This brings the lines of division closer together. This incorrect labeling is actually already having a profound effect on the right and left sides. Unfortunately it is causing a "global shift" to the left. I have been involving myself in a lot of blogs and online political debate sights and it is already in full swing there. The "Analytic Polls" application on facebook.com separates all of those involved into three categories; Liberals, Moderates/Neutral, and Conservatives. Do you see the effects of this tactic?

It draws true conservatives like myself, closer to the left or moderate middle. On the left side of the dividing line, the situation is not as bad, because most Democrats will label themselves as either liberals or moderates. The defense of the hard line right, is difficult to hold as it is. After all the media (and all of America for that matter) is always on the lookout for the next conservative to "fall" or commit some act which goes against his/her beliefs. Standing for principles that are based on God's Word, good conduct, integrity, and love is a difficult task and mistakes are made. Let's make a stand. If we can't be separated by a title, let's be sure to be separated by our lifestyles. And don't forget the love.

McCain's Health Plan puts responsibility into the hands of the people. No wonder the Dems don't like it.

Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain released more information on his health care plan yesterday. It includes a $5000 tax credit (or refund for those who do not make enough to owe a tax penalty) per year to be used for Health Care. On top of that, the plan will be taking measures to incite capitalism in the health care industry.

Democrats have already begun to criticize the plan. Elizabeth Edwards, wife of one time Democratic contender John Edwards, says the plan favors those who are rich and healthy. Not sure where Mrs. Edwards is coming from with that comment. The plan calls for a $5000 tax credit regardless of income level or health. That comes out to $416.67 per month. While that is currently about half the price of insurance for a family, that number will be closer to the cost once state lines are opened and true capitalism is allowed to take place. The competition for business will bring the cost down, and service level up.

What Mrs. Edwards probably meant is that his plan favors those with discipline and determination. Those with the discipline to invest there time and energy to finding the best program to apply their credit or refund to, and those with determination to use that refund (for those not making enough to have a tax penalty) for health care costs and not for the new Cadillac with the chrome spinners on the wheels. This program definitely favors the hard worker and does not bode well for the frivolous. Imagine that, a government that lets the people choose. What a novel idea.

Bad News for Obama

While surfing the web yesterday, I noticed this piece over at Politico by Ben Adler. It underlines that when Pennsylvania voters took the polls in the aftermath of “bitter-gate” and “Bosnia-gate,” Obama ended up not doing as well has he has in previous contests with youth voters, and Senator Clinton seems to have competed relatively well for their votes. That’s something that might seem surprising to some. Obama is often portrayed as having a lock on young voters as a demographic—indeed, Senator Clinton typically only wins the youth vote in states where she swept the popular vote by a substantial margin - not those where she won by 10 points or less, like Pennsylvania. Moreover, by some accounts, Obama outspent Senator Clinton in Pennsylvania by a three-to-one margin.

But it’s not so surprising to me. Democratic media consultant Larry Ceisler is quoted in the piece as saying that he thinks Obama faring less well with youth voters “had to do with connection.” That may well be right (and I’m guessing it is). After all, as I noted earlier this year, youth voters will likely take to the polls with pocket-book issues on their minds, as shown by this recent ABC News/Facebook poll (survey question: “Which issue will ultimately determine which candidate you vote for?”)

Overwhelmingly, those young voters who participated agreed: Issues surrounding the economy will heavily affect who they cast their ballots for in the remaining primary contests and in November, and I’m betting that young voters, as such, are connecting less and less well to a guy who’s pushing for close to a trillion dollars in new spending over the course of his first term alone, angling for steep tax increases and proposing nothing that would allow them greater control over their retirement savings.

Of course, those young voters with whom Obama’s plans for the economy seem not to be resonating are not alone: This Rasmussen poll shows that Americans, in general, trust John McCain over Barack Obama with regard to the economy (and Iraq, for that matter). That is definitely not what Obama and his team want to hear right now.
This, of course, comes as no surprise to me. The three most pressing issues of the election are the economy, the War in Iraq, and the Immigration issue. Obama not only has little to no experience with any of these issues in his short tenure as Senator, but he also hasn't really made it clear where he stands on them. All of his eloquent rhetoric, and debonair smile flashing aren't going to fool today's educated youth. His speeches, as well delivered as they are, do not hold any substance, and in todays information age, students are going to investigate where the candidate stands. The thing that I love most about this data is that it is an ABC news sponsored poll; the very left wing liberal media itself! Talk about your all time backfires!

Tom 2 the Right

To all of you Bible Scholars!!!!!

Nancy Pelosi recently quoted the Bible in a speech. Not only can I not find the direct quote, I can't even come up with a comparable one. Tell me what you think.

In her April 22 Earth Day news release, Pelosi said, "The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, 'To minister to the needs of God's creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.' On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children's children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature."

Obama advisor and Google severely denigrate Christians!

Dear Friend,
ACTION ITEM: Call the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee at 202-224-5115 and protest Larry Lessig and Google denigrating Christ while Google censors Christians online. Details below.

A friend and adviser to Barack Obama, Larry Lessig, is going to testify before Congress on Tuesday to advocate for "net neutrality," a position strongly supported by Google,Inc.

Google, recently allowed Larry Lessig to talk to Google employees. During his talk, Lessig showed a video of Jesus, depicted as gay and wearing a diaper singing the song "I Will Survivor" until Christ is run over by a bus. You can see for yourself here.
Lessig told Google's employees, "This is a little bit touchy to some people. I don't get it, so just chill."
Google and Lessig believe that intellectual property rights should be curtailed and internet providers should be forced to allow anyone and everyone to use their networks.

While Google is pushing net neutrality and blaspheming Christ, Google is also censoring Christians online. As I document here., Google has censored a pro-life group online. Google has also been sued for anti-Christian discrimination in the United Kingdom.
Of course, while Google is happy to censor Christians while denigrating Christ, Google has gone out of its way to censor content that might offend muslims.

Google should have no right to demand open access to your internet while censoring and denigrating Christians on its network. And the Senate should not give Larry Lessig a platform to advocate Google's position while Google behaves in that manner.
Call the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee and tell them you find it disgraceful that Google could advocate an open internet while censoring Christians and laughing while Larry Lessig denigrates Christ. The number is 202-224-5115.

Also, please forward this to your friends. Have your friends join this list. We should not let the left get away with denigrating Christ and sending those who do to Congress to advocate for companies that routinely censor Christians.
Together, we can stop this.

All the best,

Geraldine Ferraro Still Serving the Clinton Campaign Well!

FoxNews Article

In the above article, FoxNews.com reports on how Geraldine Ferraro is upset about being lumped into the same mold with Rev. Dr. Wright in Barak Obama's speech on race Tuesday night. But is she really? Perhaps she is however, I think it is a brilliant political move for the Hillary Campaign. Ferraro had to resign her post on the finance committee over the true statement she made in a very non-racial manner last week. She is still helping out tremendously though. The whole Rev. Wright issue had all but disappeared following Obama's speech, and today she issued a statement to the press and reopened the whole thing in the media again. This media coverage is great for the Clinton Campaign! In the last week the polls have changed in her favor, and many of Barak's followers are starting the really wonder who he is. I'm sure that Geraldine Ferraro was bothered by being categorized with the "racist bigot" Wright, but I'm thinking she was just striking a blow for her side.

In a word..."Fantastic!" A job well done.

How Can Bush Call McCain a Conservative?

Well, funny you should ask. I asked myself that when the wire was released about it originally, and I have finally come up with the reason.

President Bush is not a Conservative!!

Look at his record. What has he done in his eight years in office that can be conservative move? I expect many of you to be thinking in your head right now, "What about the War in Iraq?". What about it? Let's look at our war history for a moment. Who was the President that declared war for WWI? Woodrow Wilson - Democrat. Who was the President that declared war for WWII? Franklin Roosevelt - Democrat. I'm not saying that war is a Democratic or Liberal thing either, but it is clearly a non-partisan event. However, it is interesting to note that most acts war or attacks on America and it properties have happened while a Democrat has been in office. Back to the discussion at hand.

Suppose you aren't thinking of the war but are thinking of the tax cuts. While it is true that tax cuts are not made by liberals, it is still inaccurate to say that all tax cuts are made by conservatives.

While it is true that President Bush is a Republican, and while it is true that he is/was more conservative than his challengers, I would feign to say that he is a true Conservative.
